Periodontist specialize in treating the areas around the teeth.  This includes the bone and gum tissue that support teeth.  Healthy gums are critical to overall health and oral hygiene.  Our practice provides a wide range of services including:

Dental Implants

Dental Implants are used to replace missing teeth.  Implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where the teeth are missing.  Implants are then attached to the crown portion of the tooth once the implant has healed.

Cosmetic Periodontal Surgery

This is a series of procedures utilized to enhance the smiles appearance by revealing tooth structure covered by bone or gum tissue.

Gum Grafting

Also known as soft tissue grafting.  This procedure is used to cover exposed root surfaces and prolong tooth life. This procedure improves the appearance of the smile.  The tissue used to cover these areas may be from several sources:  the patient, a donor or synthetic.

Bone Grafting

The enhancement of bone around teeth and or dental implants.  When a tooth is lost the surrounding bone collapses.  Boner grafting is performed to reverse bone loss or enhance existing bone.  The bone can come from one of three sources:  synthetic, human or animal.

Bone Regeneration

A periodontal surgical procedure that regenerates jaw bone and surrounding tissue.  This procedure is often performed to protect existing teeth and the tissues that protect them form loss.  This procedure often utilizes membranes, bone graft and or tissue stimulating proteins that are use to enhance the bodies natural ability to heal and regenerate bone and tissue.

Osseous Surgery ( aka Pocket Depth Reduction)

A surgical procedure utilized to smooth and reshape affected bone under the gum tissue.  This procedure is when the pockets around a tooth remain unresolved after more conservative forms of treatment.  It creates an environment in which bacteria cannot readily survive and damage bone, which ultimately results in tooth loss.

Ridge Preservation

Involves placing bone a regenerative bone grafting material into empty tooth sockets to rebuild bone where an extraction has left an empty weaken area.  This process encourages your body’s natural capacity to regenerate bone.

Scaling and Root Planing

Is a non-surgical procedure used to treat periodontal disease.  During the scaling process, specialized instruments are used to removed dental plaque and calculus that harbor bacteria from the beneath the gums.  Planing is the procedure used to smooth the tooth’s roots after the scaling process.  Root planing helps the gums heal and reattach themselves to a detoxified and smoother root surface.
